Paul Scholes made his debut for England 1997. He represented England in the 1998 and 2002 World Cups and the 2000 and 2004 European Championships. After Euro 2004, Paul Scholes announced his retirement from international football saying that he wanted to concentrate on his club career Manchester United and spend more time with his family.
Paul Scholes was born in Salford, Lancashire, England. He trained with Manchester United since he was 14 years old. He passed out of Cardinal Langley Roman Catholic High School, Middleton, Greater Manchester in the summer of 1991.The player turned professional on 23 July, 1993. In the season of 1994 -1995 he made his debut in the Old Trafford team. He made his debut for the senior squad on 21st September, 1994. By the time it was 1996 -1997 he found himself all over again to play in the midfield from being a striker and be a former attacker. The hallmarks of his game was a sharp mind and his crisp passes to generate gameplay. IN 1998-99 , he was a key player in the famous treble success of his club Manchester United, the Premiership title, the FA cup and the UEFA Champions league.
Scholes established himself as a top rated midfield playmaker in his club Manchester United and for his country. The excellent passing is one of the features of Paul’s game. Thos who have watched Manchester United play over the last decade have seen how Scholes has got balls from the holding midfielder and has passed a diagonal ball to the players on either flank like Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo. Fans and the media have also lauded Paul Scholes’s shooting. There have been wonderful goals that he has scored but his goal scoring record has gone down a bit in recent seasons. There was a revival of his form in playing for his club in 2005-06 as he retired from playing for his country but in the second half of 2005-06 he did not play due to his blurred vision problem. Scholes made his international debut for his country in a friendly at Old Trafford against South Africa which England won 2 goals to 1. There was England’s world cup 98 elimination in a game against Argentina and he was in the national side then. His international career continued after that. In 1999, he became the first English player to be sent off on home soil. In the new millennium, Scholes became an important player in the English side in the midfield.
