"Jonny" Evans (born 2 January 1988, Belfast, Northern Ireland), one of the leading players of Manchester United, is a football central defender. The super star at present plays for Manchester United F.C.
Evans progressed gradually by dint of Manchester United F.C. Academy. This versatile player a hero after featuring in two of the clubs 3 games during the 2006 summer tour in South Africa, as well as domestic friendlies against Celtic F.C. and Preston North End. Evans in addition made a surprise appearance in the Amsterdam Tournament against Ajax.
Evans dedicated the first part of the 2006-07 in English football on loan at Manchester United's Belgian feeder club Royal Antwerp F.C]. Here he got wonderful accompanies like Danny Simpson, Darron Gibson, and Fraizer Campbell.
Senior United Manchester came in his life much later. Evans was called for the Northern Ireland national football team squad for the very first time in September 2006. Although it was a debut, he gathered attention overnight by a large fan following by making a memorable 3-2 victory over Spain national football team. Ever since that glamorous performance, this player of versatile qualities has become an integral part of the squad of United Manchester.
It was the December 2006 when Evans approved to join Sunderland AFC on loan until the end of the following season, with Manchester United. Again, at Royal Antwerp later, his teammate Danny Simpson also joined on a similar deal in the January. The pair helped Sunderland wrap up the Coca Cola Championship title. Evans achieved the clubs "Youth player of the year" award at the end of the season for his outstanding performance.
Although manager Roy Keane of Sunderland was looking forward of re-signing, Evans on loan following promotion to the Premiership, it was definite in June 2007 that Evans would be playing with Manchester United to push for a place in the first team.
