The Canadian Ice Hockey defense Player Derek Meech was born on 21st April, 1984 in Manitoba. The defense player is currently playing for the NHL Detroit Red Wings.
Initially, Derek played for the junior hockey team of Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League, where he was the top co-defenser of the team with Dion Phaneuf, future NHL star. On 23rd of June 2002, he was drafted as an overall of 229th in the e 2002 NHL Entry Draft 7th round. The first NHL Debut of Meech was on 7th of December 2006 against the NHL St. Louis Blues at Joe Louis Arena. After that,he played total four NHL games during the 2006–07 season. While the defenseman was playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins of AHL, he was honored as an All Star after he posted six goals consecutively, and 29 points in 67 games.
