He was drafted 40th overall in the 1981 draft by the Montréal Canadiens. He played in the 1982 World Junior Championships, 1984, 1987 and 1991 Canada Cp, 1996 and 2004 World Cup and the 1984, 1998, 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympics, winning silver in 2002.
